Still Healing from a 6 Lakh Loss: Rebuilding My Trading Psychology

The day I lost more than 6 lakhs in trading changed everything for me.

It wasn’t just the money — it was the emotional hit that came with it. My confidence crashed, I started doubting myself, and for a while, I completely lost control of my mindset.

Even now, I’m still working on it. My psychology isn’t perfect, but I’m learning and getting better every day. That loss taught me one important thing — the market doesn’t beat you, your mistakes do.

Looking back, I clearly see where I went wrong:

  • I overtraded and entered multiple positions without any real plan.
  • I didn’t set a proper day loss limit.
  • I ignored my stop loss again and again, hoping the market would turn in my favor.

Those mistakes didn’t just hurt my account; they broke my trust in myself. But over time, I’ve started fixing it slowly. I’ve written down a few rules and actually started following them. I trade less, I stop when I hit my loss limit, and I try to stay calm even when things don’t go my way.

Some days are still tough. There are moments when that loss crosses my mind, but now I handle it differently — I accept it. I remind myself that losses are a part of this journey, not the end of it.

That one bad day taught me more about discipline, patience, and emotional control than any winning trade ever could.

I’m still learning, still growing, and still rebuilding.

If you’re going through something similar, don’t give up. Take it one step at a time. The market will always give new opportunities — you just need to be mentally ready to take them.
